JOHNSTOWN, Colo. — Smalls Sliders will officially open its Johnstown restaurant Friday, Oct. 2, bringing the cheeseburger slider chain to the Thompson Parkway corridor near Interstate 25 and U.S. Highway 34.
The restaurant, located at 4781 Thompson Parkway, is scheduled to open at 10 a.m. The grand opening will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a donation presentation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Weld County and a giveaway of 100 pairs of Smalls Sliders-branded slides while supplies last, according to a press release provided to Johnstown Republic.
Johnstown Republic first reported in July that Smalls Sliders was preparing to open at the site after the company’s distinctive bright-orange building began taking shape along Thompson Parkway.
The Town of Johnstown lists the Smalls Sliders development at 4781 Thompson Parkway as approved.
Second Colorado location
The Johnstown restaurant will be Smalls Sliders’ second Colorado location. Franchise partners Nick and Alix Ralls, operating through Mountain Sliders, opened the company’s first Colorado restaurant in Northglenn in January.
The group is also planning another location in Denver’s Green Valley Ranch area as part of its expansion in Colorado.
“Opening our first Can in Northglenn gave us the chance to see firsthand how Colorado guests would respond to Smalls, and Johnstown is an important next step in what we’re building across the state,” Nick and Alix Ralls said in the announcement. “We’re looking forward to becoming part of the Johnstown community, introducing even more guests to Smalls and continuing to grow the brand throughout the state.”
Smalls Sliders refers to its restaurant locations as “Cans,” a reference to the shipping-container-inspired design used by the company.
Grand opening to support Weld County youth organization
As part of Friday’s opening, the restaurant will recognize Boys & Girls Clubs of Weld County as its local “Smalls Town Hero” and present the organization with a donation.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Weld County provides after-school and summer youth programs throughout the region. Its locations include the Art & Martie Barker Clubhouse at Thompson River Parks and Recreation in Milliken, which serves the Johnstown-Milliken area.
The first 100 guests at Friday’s opening will also be eligible to receive a pair of Smalls Sliders slides. Sizes and quantities are limited, and the giveaway will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Smalls Sliders specializes in cooked-to-order cheeseburger sliders and also serves fries, milkshakes, queso and its signature “Smauce.” The Johnstown location includes drive-thru and walk-up ordering.
The restaurant’s regular hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
