The Loveland Chamber of Commerce is expanding its regional focus to formally include Johnstown, adopting the name Greater Loveland-Johnstown Area Chamber of Commerce as it increases its services and presence in the community.
The move builds on a relationship that began several years ago. The Loveland chamber began reaching out to Johnstown businesses in 2020 after Johnstown’s chamber closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to BizWest. A number of Johnstown businesses subsequently became members of the Loveland organization.
The chamber filed notice with the Colorado Secretary of State to officially change its name to the Greater Loveland-Johnstown Area Chamber of Commerce. The organization is now working through a broader rebranding process that includes updating programs, communications, partnerships, materials and other elements of the chamber to reflect its expanded regional focus.
Chamber President and CEO Mindy McCloughan told BizWest that discussions about the expansion began during a January board retreat, when chamber leaders considered their existing relationships with Johnstown businesses and opportunities to increase services in the community. Before moving forward, the chamber conducted stakeholder meetings and reached out to businesses and community leaders in both Johnstown and Loveland.
The chamber says the expanded organization is intended to provide businesses in both communities with access to resources, advocacy, professional connections and opportunities for growth while strengthening regional economic-development cooperation. McCloughan said businesses, residents and visitors regularly cross municipal boundaries, making greater collaboration between the two communities a natural extension of the chamber’s work.
Changes are already appearing in chamber programming. The organization’s leadership-development program is now called Leadership Loveland-Johnstown and is described by the chamber as a program of the Greater Loveland-Johnstown Area Chamber of Commerce. The 2026-27 program includes sessions examining local and county government, business and economic development, education, natural resources and infrastructure, public safety and other issues affecting the Loveland-Johnstown region.
The expanded role also formalizes a relationship that developed after Johnstown lost its standalone chamber during the pandemic. Rather than establishing a replacement organization limited to Johnstown, the Loveland chamber is incorporating Johnstown into an existing organization that has operated for more than a century.
The transition is not yet reflected uniformly across the chamber’s online presence. Its main website continues to prominently identify the organization as the Loveland Chamber of Commerce, while the Leadership Loveland-Johnstown page already uses the Greater Loveland-Johnstown Area Chamber of Commerce name.
A new logo and branding are expected to be unveiled during the chamber’s annual awards dinner in October. The larger question for Johnstown businesses will be how the regional expansion translates into additional programming, advocacy and chamber activity within Johnstown as the transition moves forward.
