A newly improved section of County Road 46 is now open to traffic between Colorado Boulevard (CR 13) and Telep Avenue (CR 15), following recent paving work connected to ongoing development in the area.
While the roadway is currently open to motorists through the Telep Avenue corridor, paving operations have now extended east to Galloway Drive as infrastructure improvements continue along CR 46.
Drivers traveling through southern Johnstown may have noticed paving crews working in recent weeks along the corridor as development activity continues nearby.
Previous reporting by Johnstown Republic found that improvements along CR 46 were tied to requirements associated with surrounding residential developments, including The Granary project located north of the roadway.

Public records and development agreements approved by the Town of Johnstown required portions of CR 46 to be upgraded to Town standards as development phases progressed. A development agreement for Granary Filing Three specifically stated the developer must “asphalt pave Weld County Road 46 to Town standards, to a minimum two-lane interim standard, from Colorado Boulevard to Telep Avenue” before later phases of development could move forward.
Town project listings also showed ongoing planning and revisions connected to the CR 46 corridor as part of nearby development activity.
Projects of this type are commonly completed as developer-funded infrastructure improvements, meaning roadway upgrades are constructed as part of development obligations tied to growth rather than standalone municipal road projects funded directly by taxpayers.
The roadway improvements are expected to improve east-west traffic flow and access through the growing southern portion of Johnstown as additional residential and commercial development continues in the area.
Motorists are still encouraged to use caution while traveling through the corridor, as nearby construction activity and unfinished infrastructure work may still be present in surrounding areas.
